Well, before I get to the story of the dreaded putty, let me start with some tangles. Here are two entries for this week's Diva Challenge # 332, a square within a square. Every tangle in each tile is brand-new to me, and it shows. I consider both tiles "first tries" and drafts. Not bad, but of course they'd get better with practice. In the first tile, three totally new patterns: On the lower right corner: Kinnggo by Susie Ngamsuwan. Don't blame her--this is my first attempt! I like it though, and will use it in future. Center/right-ish: Andromeda by Lily Moon. Upper left: Bealis, by Aurora's Artwork. My square-within-a-square for the challenge was formed by the Andromeda tangle. This was a fun exercise, even though not very meditative since I was in learning mode. I would need to practice a lot more with each of these, and I intend to. I thought I would try them in this challenge since I'd been wanting to try each of them for a couple of weeks now. Another brand-new (to me) tangle called Sunspots, by Rosemary Turpin. This is one repeat of the pattern; it's simple and meditative to draw. I figured it qualified for this challenge because there are 4 squares, visually, inside the one repeat. It would make a great quilt, don't you think? Hmmm. Lastly, here is the Dreaded Putty--the hand therapy material that is making my hand go crazy with pain, but it's also really helping. The two culprits are Red Putty (softer), and now my wonderful OT has added the dreaded Blue Putty (scarily harder). I have to squeeze the red one and do various torture-y exercises with the blue one. Ack. Ouch. But I know it's helping. I want my hand back so I can end this "Broken Wrist Series" of tangles and get on with my life.
Impatience has taken over!

HAHAHA! When I open a website I always always first look at the images. Probably a 'reminiscence' from my childhood if Reminiscence is the correct word. So what is this blue worm doing here? then I read the text. Ah! I feel for you, Meridiana, I can well imagine this is no pleasant exercise. But if you could meditate at the same time..? Thanks for incorporating Kinggo in your tile. Hey, I love it. I have to try it this way myself, too. Thanks for the input.

Susie, thanks for pointing up I made an error with the URL on the Diva site. I wish there were an "undo"button on there but couldn't find one so I just re-posted myself. Much appreciated. 9/14/2017 11:17:41 am
A beautiful combination of three total new tangles, congrats for such a wonderful tile, also the tile with Sunspots is lovely. I'm glad to read that your hand is going better, thanks to that special stuff I really didn't know.

Thank you, Ria! I should have added that my version of "Sunspots" is simply a clone of the step out. I did nothing to change or alter it in any way, except adding a bit of color. Next time I try it I want to experiment more. 9/14/2017 02:27:11 pm
I love the spontaneity of tangling patterns that haven't been tried before. They have a delightful flow.

oh no! (Your trigger finger) not fun. i will have to google it and see what exactly the symptoms are but i can guess. a really good occupational therapist might be able to help--although maybe you are perfectly happy with how much you are tangling now. i did wonder why i don't see posts from you very often anymore tho. sorry to hear this. 9/14/2017 11:36:19 pm
Ouch. My sister is an OT. She's a really sweet person, but I know she has to make people do things that hurt all day. At least you're still able to tangle. I had a wrist problem last summer and tangling exacerbated the pain, but I couldn't stop doing it. You are very brave to try all these new tangles for the DIva challenge. I really like that Sunspots one you used for your second tile, so I'm off to check that one out. I hope you continue to mend. Tangle on!

Your tiles are very beautiful, I like them. I know how it is to use Putty, I had to use it last year too.

Annemarie, thank you for your kind comment. I'm sorry you too had to use the "dreaded putty" last year and assume you are now recovered. I'm feeling very encouraged today--my hand was acting more normal and with less pain. I think I am almost over this! Very exciting.

I ❤ your tiles. They make me smile!😃 I too use hand/stress putty... to try and keep my hands/finger mobile for drawing. I do it when watching TV. Speedy recovery wishes!

Actually, I think I'm going to keep using the putty after I've fully recovered, for the same reason you do. Just today my OT said to me, "Use it while watching tv." You already are! Thanks for the good wishes. Comments are closed.
